I'm excited about Age March LA -- only 38 days away! There will be surprises for marchers, including celebrity guests. Of course, the music will be great. First Cody Wood will entertain, and at the march's finish we'll have jazz singer Suzi Oliver with Bob Tucker and Jane Getz. Hope everyone can join in the fun and celebrate Age Pride. It deserves our attention, young and old alike.

Hello,
I'm a freelance staff writer for SeniorSmart in Moorpark, CA. 800seniors.com is a referral service for those looking for independent or assisted living facilities nationwide.

My position is writing articles about senior-related issues that are posted on various sites on the Internet that may or may not generate leads for the company.

I ran across your website today when researching new topics.

I like to focus on writing articles about the stereotyping of seniors and
the over-categorizing of the term. There is a huge difference between someone 50 and someone 90, so the many topics I write on are intended to reach the different areas of interest in these segments.

The best way to check out some of my articles is to Google my name: Gloria Hao Schneider.

I would love to write an article on your organization and especially on the upcoming December Age March in LA.

Send info if you can, and I'll get this info out there. Thanks, Gloria

Thanks for all the hard work Barbara. I was there and "marched" with the others.
I also talked with some of the other marchers.
There were those who didn't want the label "senior" or "elder" or who resented any label at all. There were those who were tired of being invisible, who wanted a more active role in our society. But mostly people wanted to be heard.
It's with this in mind that I suggest that future marches include a forum for discussions about aging, health and yes even death.
peace,
c

Thanks so much for making this happen. I was there on Sunday and "marched" around the field too.
While waiting to walk i spoke with some who resented being labeled "seniors" or "elders" or really having any label at all. I spoke with others who were tired of being invisible and wanted to let society know that they were still vital human beings. But mostly people just wanted to connect, to have someone to talk to about this aging process.
It's with these observations in mind that I'd like to suggest adding the ability to have open forums on the topics of aging, health and yes, even death.
Perhaps talking isn't as news worthy as marching but i think it might be of more benefit to the participants.
Sincerely,
Clinton

Thank you, Barbara Rose Brooker,
My life has spanned the era since Lindbergh did his solo "hop" across the Atlantic
to now; and the discovery of Telomeres and the clear potential of living INDEFINITELY in good health and well being.
I have never thought how old I am, until I look in the mirror, "yep, you're 86."
It just doesn't compute. AND that is being changed with telomeres cream, which reach down into your DNA and repairs the skin structure.
I have avoided senior centers for years, they are for "old folks."
I'm convinced that we are spirit beings having physical adventures, just for the fun of it. Why are we here? To do what we love most. AND "to learn to love" as Deepak Chopra once responded on Oprah. I believe that fossil fuels, war and alleopathic medicine are obsolete and will soon be discarded as "quaint"and about as useful as an Underwood upright typewriter is compared to a MAC or PC.
Have a fabulous March, I may not make it for time conflicts. ++++Gale Boulton

I coach women of all ages in running and walking for fitness. Currently our oldest member is coming up on 70 but I see no reason why we shouldn't have some 80 and 90+ women running with the WOW Team. In fact, a big gripe I have is with race directors who stop their age categories at 70+!

I met a woman at a race who told me, when I asked what age division her trophy was from, that she got second place in the 70+ but would have won first if there had been an additional category for 80+!

This is a perfect example of the subtle discrimination that occurs as we age.

Hey, Barbara...

I'm Marlene Levinson's sis...remember me? I am so proud of you and what you're doing...there is no reason why people should be discarding us older people...I have probably accomplished more after the age of 50 than before.. We are strong and viable...

Good luck on your age march and can't wait to watch your series when it begins... You are terrific...but then again you always were.

Love ya and keep up the great work!

I have taught math , ESL and science for so many years and have mentored students who are currently in med school and other colleges. I applied for a med school in the Caribbean and got accepted! I decided instead to finish a Master's degree in health sciences first & will finish in December. I am 62 and going strong! I hope to start that med school in January 2011!!

Looking forward to see how the Age March goes. I am soon to be 65. Would love to join the March. I am a polio survivor, using a power chair. This does not stop me from experiencing all that I can. Will handicap seniors be welcome to participate?
